Part of an ongoing project focused to the ways in which we produce, consume, and discard the artifacts of capitalism and consumer culture. American Era is a wall-mounted collection of discarded sandwich makers that were designed and manufactured over a thirty-year period, including one named “American Era.” The display is accompanied by a collection of sculptural objects — sandwiches made from laser cut polyester felt and hydrocal, cast from the sandwich makers themselves.
